'arry for england
so, sven's going after the world cup then. probably the right thing - he was an idiot for saying what he said to the sheik. but it's the news of the world i'm pissed off with. we had a good chance of winning the world cup, but this is the sort of thing that can unsettle the squad. if we have a crap tournament it's totally their fault. i mean, what were they trying to prove? they'll calim they did us a favour by showing sven's heart wasn't in it, but they just want to pretend they're important & to have the reputation of being the paper that brought down sven. prats.
which brings us to the question of who'll be next for the job. i'd quite like pearce. the fans would love the passion, but he's probably a bit too inexperienced. i don't want big sam - bolton aren't known for their attractive football. steve mclaren's obviously got experience of the whole england set-up, but then he's managing a team that's fourth from bottom in the premiership. martin o'neill & guus hiddink are apparently the two favourite foreigners, and i'd be happy with either of them. o'neill's got a good mix of passion & tactical know-how, while hiddink's got to the last two world cup semi finals, & you can't really complain with a record like that.
