BBC SPORT | Football | Europe | Wenger fury as Bayern hit Gunners. I broke my golden rule last night and watched Arsenal in Europe. It was silly and stupid and I'd just like to confess to one and all. I paid the price anyway - they're rubbish in Europe, they're a really duff team when they step outside of the UK boundaries, its like watching wacky overs on the bole hills.
After 60 minutes I switched over to watch the appalling Liverpool actually play pretty well.
Waheeeeeeeyyyyy!!!!!! We beat Chelsea!!! HA! HA! HA!!!
We're in good company, along with Man City and Porto, as the only teams to beat them this year, and we played bloody good football. What was amazing was how organised we were, allowing them only one decent chance with Kezman hitting the bar. But they were never really in it; even at the end, we were solid, and Kluivert's 4th minute header was enough to take us the the quarters. Even Bramble had a good game! He got man of the match!! Incidentally, it was our first 1-0 win of the season. They brought on the big guns at half time (Lampard, Duff & Gudjohnsen), but it was no use; we defused everything they could come up with (which wasn't much - ha! ha!).
Come on!!!!!
FA Cup 5th Round
After our superb away win in the UEFA Cup last night, I'm confident enough to think we'll scrape a draw against Chelsea. Hmmm. Anywho, here are my predictions:
Bolton 2-1 Fulham
Spurs 3-0 Nottm Forest
Everton 0-1 Man Utd
Charlton 2-1 Leicester
Burnley 1-1 Blackburn
Southampton 3-1 Brentford
Newcastle 1-1 Chelsea
Arsenal 2-0 Sheff Utd
The Bloodbath
This Sunday, Newcastle will be exiting the F.A. Cup. If anyone would like to join me in witnessing the inevitable massacre, I will weeping quietly in the corner of the Broomhill Tavern from around 4pm while 6pm.
Hopefully, tomorrow night we shall be a little more successful in the UEFA Cup when we take on some Dutch team called Herrenveen or summat.
Match of the season!
Well, probably the best I've seen so far this season; a six goal thriller, with thrills, spills (actually Carroll held on to it for the most part) and, as you'd expect, one or two tantrums. And something which most definitely must be said: Graham Poll refereed superbly. United showed unbelievable spirit in the second haf and deserved the 3 points: Rooney matched his performance at the weekend with a couple of assists and despite his temperament, he had the urgency which United needed; Ronaldo, who was poor in the first half, was fantastic after the break, and Heinze was as dirty as was needed.
